Tomorrow, ( Weds ) my almost 3yr old son has an MRI scan under general anaesthetic on a lump on the back of his head ( over the posterior fontanelle ) to rule out internal interconnection, ( encephalocele ) etc.

I have spent years in paediatric anaesthesia, and am considered a specialist in this field!

This one's mine!

I am as freaky as one can get, even though I am 99 per cent sure there is nothing interconnected, only pictures will tell.

He is fine about it, we have explained all kinds of things for the last few weeks, read stories about going to hospital etc etc.. He is happy to go to 'Daddy's hospital ( as opposed to Mummy's where he is always spoiled rotten ), to have a 'special sleep'.

I am more freaked than he is ! Is parenting always this bad ??

Good luck and keep us updated. that is not a fun thing to go through. I hope its nothing serious. Hang in there and give the little guy a sweet hello for me.

The funny part will be when he wakes up and gets to go home. he'll be a little drunken sailor. My son had to be put to sleep when he was 18 months old so they could re-break his arm as it was not setting correctly. Now seeing him trying to walk around was quite funny but not funny ya know.

What a scary deal for a parent to go through.

We freaked out whenever one of ours had a stitch or a pimple!

I have a young son too (7 years old) and found that parenting is rarely easy... but the scary thing about it for me was that you only find out what a steep learning curve there is AFTER you become a parent!!

There's no getting around it.... child + concerned parent + hospital, is going to = stressed parent
