BILL Gates, exposing the corruption...help!!!
For school i have to write an essay about bill gates . here it is "What can i do to be as succesful as bill gates?" I hate bill, he sucks, but i need to find some info on what he has done to get here. I know he stole a lot of his stuff and buys out the competition, but i need some facts. The gave us some biography about him, blah blah blah, he is the greatest thing to ever live . I want to do a cold hard fact essay that will crucify this guy. I sound weird, but my intentions are to expose him. any help would be appreciated.

seems i recall another memeber here talked of a book that was written about gates and how he climbed the corporate ladder to where he is today. I no idea of where the link is but do recall the conversation.
Might want to check out the libarary on some biography (i think that is right) books on him.

I think if you want to do a "cold hard fact essay" you should immediately abandon your position to "crucify this guy" Be as objective as you can, given that you hate him. But if it is written with a negative slant it will lose credibility. Be fair and objective, and watch your grades (and respect) soar!
Perhaps you should write a lot about him, how he has gained wealth and power, and then do a 180 and define success. Is being rich and powerful the same as being successful? Who Is more successful, a happy pauper or a morose millionaire?

Good sources of facts about Bill Gates and Microsoft are the following books:
Hard Drive (James Wallace and Jim Erickson; 1992)
.
Overdrive (James Wallace; 1992)
.
Gates : How Microsoft's Mogul Reinvented an Industry-And Made Himself the Richest Man in America (Stephen Manes, Paul Andrews 1994)
.
How the Web Was Won : How Bill Gates and His Internet Idealists Transformed the Microsoft Empire (Paul Andrews 1999)
.
High Stakes, No Prisoners (Charles Ferguson 1999) explains how Microsoft crushed Netscape
if you don't feel like reading Project Gutenberg's version on-line, you can pick up a paperback copy of Robin Waterfield's translation of The Republic

Try to determine what your teachers opinion of Bill Gates is. If your professor loves him, you need to love him too in order to get a top grade. Remember, you are there to get grades as well as an education. Don't go against what the teacher beleives the facts to be. If you still choose to, you will need to document the crap out of your quotes and have a bibliography as long as your arm. Remember, you aren't Michael Moore and you will be held to a higher standard.
Take the high road, get a high grade! The trick is to find out which road the teacher feels is the high road!

im gonna take a look into some of those books crouse mentioned, and i think im gonna give that 180 turn a try. My teacher, does seem to have a love affair with gates, so i think your right that i should be objective, and make him look bad but not crucify him. thx for ideas and info everyone.

Or perhaps you should go for an A and an Academy Award and make him look good! | |

Get clear, concise instructions as to what is expected of the assignment, preferably in writing.
Then write the essay with whatever "spin" you choose, as long as it conforms to the instructions to the letter.
If you then feel you've gotten a lower score than deserved due to teacher's personal opinion, take it over his head...
But never EVER be anyone's "yes man" - not for grades, not for money, not for anything!
