The cost of war.
President Bush has asked for "$62.6 billion is requested to address the costs related to military operations against Iraq and sustaining efforts in the continuing global war on terrorism."
out of a package of $74.7 billion.
This is based on the assumtion it will be over quickly. (say 6 months give or take.)
1.How much do "You" think it will be?
2. what type of message does this send to Sadam? (or whoevers in charge over there.)
I wonder how many "Tomahawks I could by with $10 billion?

I think its all been underestimated to soften the blow. Probably $200 billion give or take when the dust settles.
Tells Saddam the US has lots of $$ to waste.

I love hearing the Democrats, who never met a pork barrel project they didn't love, complain about the cost of the war.

I heard they fired 1000 cruise missiles so far (old data, it could be more now). If that's the case, that alone is a pretty big sum.

600,000 x 1000 = $600,000,000

If, indeed, we find WMD in Iraq and they are neutralized and ,hopefully, we can bring some kind of order to that region, and we get help from our allies with the cost, this will be worth it in the long run. Something's got to give on the planet..either we destory each other or we come to grips and try and get on with living together. As much as this country seems to hated, who else has the resources and technology to do this ????? It's either now or never..IMO

I heard about this - and don't really understand why additional funding is needed.
We already own the equipment, we're just using it for the purpose it was purchased for in the first place, AND the payroll has to be met regardless of what the soldiers are doing.
So where's the cost? Fuel & ammo?
BTW, osprey4, I'm a Republican, and totally against blowing additional money on war. I support the military, and military funding - but I don't think they should get more just because the time has come to USE what we've been paying for over the years!

I wonder what the muslim's think about the Democrats adding "pork" to the request!
So far they want to add about 21 billion in pork to the Presiden't request.
