What constitutes "humiliating" a POW (2 )

I just watched BBC news showing 'Iraqi soldiers' surrendering to British troops, hands aloft ( how degrading is that to their families and themselves )

Although, when 'God invoked his punishment upon Soddom and Gomorrah' he wasn't playing by humanistic roles,

Religion and war are allies IMHO

It was just closed. Seemed to be a pretty decent discussion compared to some of the others that have been going on around here.

Don't bring free speech up here... that isn't relevant. There was an explanation in the thread if you are curious tho you may need to PM the mod to completely understand it.

Again, as discussions around here go these days it was pretty clean.

It is pretty frustrating that some people will search out every avenue imaginable (and some unimaginable) to speak out against this war. In their eyes the US can do no right, and the bad guys can do no wrong. Seems they just take a liberal agenda stance and to hell with facts and logic.

With regards to this thread, it looks to me like they are doing the honorable thing. Nothing humiliating about that.

Not yet. So far you just look curious. Nothing wrong with that. You are approaching it from an initial anti-liberation ground, but it doesn't look like you've grown roots in it.

I think this is where the disconnect occurs. We are not saying the US does no right and Saddam is right and Bush sucks. Not at all.

What we are saying is that 99% of the time the US does the right thing, 1% of the time Saddam is right and 0.000088758387% of the time Bush sucks.

Point is that when you make out a case that the enemy is always wrong and the US military is always right, something's not kosher here.

Look, we all know Saddam is the bad guy. But Bush is pulling some fast ones too. Taking huge chances politically and militarily.

To get back to CBB's question, Yes the US military broke the Geneve Convention by humiliating Iraqi soldiers with hands on their heads and flanked by armed guards and then showing on TV.

Iraqis did the very same thing but worse in degree.

What I protest is that George Bush, like a wimp, complains and threatens action against war crimes. I didn't hear the Iraqis threaten Bush and scream that all responsible US personnel responsible for breaking the Geneve Convention and mistreating Iraqi soldiers will face war crime charges.

See the disconnect. You react and threaten but then you do it too.

Grow up Bush. Can't have your cake and eat it too. Can ya?

Edit: Not Gomer but CBB. Typo.
