Serious mistake of warfare?...or unbelievable cunning?

Iraqis have been reported attacking while under the white flag of truce/surrender. What's going on here?

If we can't trust them to behave under the white flag, then we may have to shoot them all. This may be exactly what Saddam wants. If his troops can't surrender without getting shot, will they fight to the death?

Iraqis have been reported dressing soldiers in civilian clothes. Do they show off the bodies on TV and claim we're shooting civilians?

Will every Iraqi be persuaded to take up arms against us? Will we then be forced to shoot them all, because we can't tell who is surrendering?...Who is a soldier and who a civilian?

Are these just mistakes in the ettiquitte of warfare? Or is this the plot of an evil mind that will drive his entire population unto death before our cannons rather than face defeat?

It is an old plan and not all that cunning.

somewhat effective but it just changes how you take the prisoners IMO.

The strip method is pretty good.

we should pick up 100,000 orange jump suits and tell surrendering personnel to strip before approaching our troops

Heard on UK news that something like 9 US soldiers were shot during a "fake surrender"!!!

and like you said, caddmannq, these Iraqi "soldiers" were dressing in civilian clothes... I also heard that these civilian/soldiers were carring out ambushes, then retreating to civilian populated areas to regroup, and later returning to attack the US/UK troops again.....

Tactics like that are DEFINATELY the work of a sick minded dictator!!
The special forces should have been sent in to take him out when they got the chance the 1st time round!!

I've got family in the forces, including a brother-in-law and 3 cousins, and I want to see them back safe - but hearing these reports of so-called Iraqi "martyrs" makes me SICK.

I don't agree with the reasons and events leading up to the war, but thousands of brave soldiers have trained (and now been ordered) to do a difficult job.... and their pride, their efforts, and in some cases the ultimate price is ridiculed by this Iraqi propaganda?!

We have a definite clash of cultures here! We are likely to have more US casualties because we are trying to minimize civilian deaths, because thats the course of action chosen by the Commander in Chief. The phony surrenders will only fool us once, and now it will be back to the "face down, hands on back of head" that should have been SOP from the beginning. These people don't respect any rules of conduct, and we haven' seen the worst yet.

I fully expect Saddam's crew to use gas on civilians in Bagdad when we get there to cause panic and clog the roads and passage ways, to make clear lanes of fire more difficult to create. Refugees, gas, and schrapnel - these are Saddam's weapons. This is why, IMO, we have insisted on imbedded media! Someone to tell our side! I hope we grind the dead Iraqi soldiers with pig meat and feed them to the fish! But we are civilized and are prohibited from doing that by the Geneva Convention, article 44: "There shall be no polluting of pig meat!"
