Apple Pie Recipie Needed

I got a bunch of apples the kids didn't eat. They begged me for them and now are not eating them. So I hate to see these go to waste and want to make an apple pie.

BUT............................................... ............................................

I don't know how to make an apple pie.

So anyone got a good recipie of how to turn these into a delecitible dessert? and recipie for pie crust as well.

TIA

My wife makes pretty good ones. I'll ask her to post but I know she uses apples, cinnamon, flour and Crisco and kinda puts it all together.

Sorry couldn't be more help but at least its a bump to the top.

here's a recipe for Apple Crumble. For me it's much easier to make as I don't have to worry about making the crust

2 cups of plain flour
1 stick of butter, chilled and cut into small pieces
1/2 cup of sugar
5 cups sliced, peeled, baking apples (I use any apples that are around)
teaspoon ground cinnamon (can leave out if you want)
vanilla ice cream

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
Add cinnamon to the apples and put into a baking dish.
Put flour, sugar, butter into a blender and blend until mixture resembles bread crumbs. I normally use my fingers to mix the butter and flour/sugar mix to get the same effect.
Sprinkle mixture onto apples and bake for 40 mins.
serve with vanilla ice cream.

bebe's recipe would be quick and easy---pie crust making is simple but technical at the same time---and if you get it wrong its VERY wrong (usually by overworking the dough)

Go with the crumble.

Marcia has a great pie crust recipe, but you don't want to play around with one if it's your first time.

Oh, Oh, Oh....

don't let the pie crust thingy stop ya.... Pillsbury pie crust in the dairy section works perfectly (red Box)... it is really good and sooo
easy!!!!!

I don't use a recipe for apple pie but this is what I do...
slice up apples, squirt some lemon (or lime) juice on top just enough to sorta lightly coat em to stop em from turning brown. Add sugar to the mix, as much as a cup. Main spices are sprinkled on apples - cinnamon, nutmeg (just a little), maybe some allspice, or you can use pumpkin pie spice. Add a little salt. Add a few tablespoons of flour to help thicken(important!). Add some butter if you want for extra richness. toss all together, put in unbaked bottom shell, cover with top shell, make vent holes, put pie pan on cookie sheet (it always seems to seep out and makes a mess). Bake 350 till nicely browned. If the little ones like a topping, you can mix a few tablespoons of powdered sugar with just a little milk to make a thin glaze to put on top after pie has cooled...

Hope this helps..... the best apples to use are the Rome variety, then Granny Smith. I usually just use what I have and mix em up.
Sometimes a Delicious apple just doesn't cook too well....

enjoy......

ps I just got a beautiful flat of local strawberries and made my first strawberry cake, turned out good - except it didn't use up too many berries..... guess I'll be freezing some of those beautiful red strawberries for future use.... (the funny part about this is that we hardly ever eat even 1/2 of sweet stuff but I love cooking em....)(guess I may freeze half that cake toooo)
