Russia helping Iraq

I heard on the radio this morning that Russia has been helping Iraq. It was stated that the ground forces captures some Russian technicians that were showing the Irag's how to use Russian made equipment and how to repair it. Also that Russia sold 1,000 night vision goggles to Iraq, this after the USA repeadetly asked for the sale to be calcelled, against Un Embargo sanctions.
Is is hard to figure why Russia was against the USA in the UN, money?

Why on earth does it surprise anyone that Russia is acting this way? Since when are they our buddies? Russia has always countered virtually any move the U.S. makes. They're no longer a world power and they have to make noise somehow.

Just be glad it's only night vision goggles and not nukes.

Will it surprise anyone when they inspect the clandestine weapons factory that lots of boxes and equipment will have Russian, French, and Chinese writing on it?

Won't surprise me a bit. The Iraqis bought the stuff somewhere. Why not those countries?

Just like a nation, the world must have a system of checks and balances.

What/who should enforce those checks and balances?

The UN
he said the UN
Now there's an idea
They can write a nasty letter to them
Hey saddam get rid of your weapons. (signed the UN)
All the inspectors needed was more time to explore and entire hostile country
