Involved in car wreck yesterday.

I totaled my 87 Camry yesterday (our backup car). I had used my right turn signal and had moved into the right hand turn lane. The guy I hit apparently thought I was going to turn onto the street he was on instead of the next driveway leading to a service station.

Just as I approached his car he pulled out in front of me. I was traveling 40-45mph. I struck his car in the front drivers side centered on the front wheel. My car is now junk (total loss). My wife went by the wrecker yard to remove our personal stuff and said the car had hit his car so hard that the hood and both fenders were bent up and the winshield was busted.

I'm OK, just sore. The Rescue Squad transported me to Athens Regional Hospital for X-rays and a checkup but nothing is broken. My chest is sore from slamming into the shoulder harness. My neck is sore from the whiplash.

Does anyone have any suggestions in dealing with the insurance company? I know my old car was not worth much, but this puts us at a disadvantage only having our Quest van to use now. I doubt I'll get enough money to replace my Camry.

Mike

I am not sure what to suggest, however I am glad to see you are not hurt, now that is a good thing.

As for the insurance, i guess I would just contact your insurance and explain to them what you was doing and what happened. Appears to me the other fella was in error missjudging your blinker but hard to tell cuz seems to be on a fine line.

Glad to see you are safe!

Yes Neo, this is a very poorly designed road. The turn lane runs for 1/2 a mile with possibly 6 different roads and parking lots you could turn into. I had just moved into the turn lane after using my blinker and intended to use the very next driveway to stop at the service station to get gas.

I contacted the insurance after hours 800 number yesterday afternoon. I will be able to pick up the Police report tomorrow.

Any accident you can walk away from is a good one (if they must exsist or happen)

I'm glad to hear you are OK, and those shoulder harnesses do hurt, alot, My shoulder was sore for about 2 days after my accident (a while ago)
