I would like some more info about the war

This is a thread to clear my understanding.

Sorry if I seem dense on this but I would like to understand on why the US went to war against Iraq.

I would like to know why exactly this is happening.. Is it because Saddam is hiding something or is it for other reasons.

Please clue me in.

I've read through threads here and visited web sites stating on what is going on but I want to know what the underlying reason that this is all about.

Is it the way he his treating his people or is there some other reason. Help me understand.

Beats me.

Bush kept on and on about weapons of mass destruction, but till today it is only the US that has used weapons of mass destruction against Iraq.

Iraq soldiers have pretty much not used any of the WOMD that Bush says they have.

Or maybe it was just a ruse to slam that country and overthrow the regime.

Time will tell for sure.

Don't forget if Iraq uses ANY WOMD, or chemical/biological warfare that immediately kills the negative opinion towards the US and turns it towards Saddamn. He wants this war to add hostility towards the US.

I don't think anybody not affiliated with the military really knows the underlying reason. We're going there for WOMD, Chemical/Biological agents in theory. Reality is another story..

But I'm still not sure if it is due to the fact that Iraq has WOMD and they intend to use them on us (by us I mean every other country or nation).

I agree something has to be done but is this the answer? I've gone to web sites and all I see is the latest happenings but still I never see the the underlying reason.

Is it the chemo/bio weapons that they are making or is it that Saddam just has to go..

If you could point me to some sites that explain why this is going on I will read through them and hopefully get a better perspective on this.

As far as weapons Iraq isn't supposed to have, I was under the impression that SCUD missles weren't allowed, which they have been firing at us.

The US went to war with Iraq simply because Saddam didn't follow the UN resolution set forth back in 91, which gave us permission to forcefully make Saddam follow. That resolution was unanimously agreed upon. The only thing is, now we had france, germany and russia get cold feet when the need for action drew near.

Wow I didn't realize that this went back so far. Just finished reading the link Radar sent me and from what I've read this makes sense.

He (Suddam) had ample warning and time to comply with the UN but didn't. Who knows what he is thinking and what it is can't be good.

Thanks for clearing this up for me.

I may have more questions on this subject but I'll leave them for a later time.
