why doesn't it work on a laptop?

Edit: now that someone gave the hint I get it now. it opens up the cd drawer, it did it to mine just tested it. Was wondering earlier why my cd drawer was open, I just figured i had my mouse too close to the side of the laptop.

it worked on my toshiba satellie laptop, i thought i bumped the cd button with my thumb as i moved the mouse
