Media Great Shakes! ~ Recipes

hey y'all ;-) hehe

I just got back from a good killer workout, I'm feeling goood and just polished off a high-protein, low-fat shake.

And this got me to thinkin' (i know.. doesn't happen often... gotta strike while iron is hot lol) about others who may have some great shake recipes they use.

I use a variety of fruits, including honeydew, strawberry, banana (always a banana), peach, and / or pineapple, but the basic non-fruit ingredients remain pretty much the same.

So here's my shake, and it's pretty darn good, if i do say so myself

1 banana
5 medium strawberries (today)
1/2 c nonfat milk
1 heaping spoon nonfat cottage cheese
1/4 c tofu
1 egg white
1 scoop Optimum ProComplex (Vanilla)
1 pack Sweet 'n' Low (or Equal)

Throw it all in a blender and shake it up, baby!

And man - this is filling! It's a meal (actually, 2+ servings) and keeps me full for more than a few hours.

So, what's your healthy shake recipe?

Bananaberry smoothie

1 cup/8oz plain yogurt
one banana (the riper the better)
a handful of fresh straberries (or one scoop of frozen strawberries)
1 scoop of ice
a shot of orange juice

throw all into a blender and blend until smooth

For Chocolate shakes my mom would throw chocolate ice-cream and milk into the blender and there was our chocolate shake

Socalgal mustn't read this...it's dangerous!

They used to make GREAT malts when I was a kid...everywhere. You couldn't swing a cat without hitting some little joint that made a malt that was really thick and rich, and with that unmistakable MALT flavor...I dunno where they all went. BUT...your faithful Knothead is on the case!

Next time you're at the market, look for Carnation Malted Milk. If they have it, get the Chocolate kind. Also some cheap Vanilla ice cream (you don't even WANT the expensive stuff for this.) and milk. Even non-fat works just fine.

Follow the directions on the back. Throw it into the blender.

Prepare to regress back to wonderful summer days in the 60's.

HAHAHAHA....it's okay, OuT, I'll bet you this is one of those deals where it's totally hidden, and I suspect it actually adds to the body of the shake, but stays hidden...

This may be OT, but I have a recipe for Fettucine Alfredo (you know, "Heart-Attack-On-A-Plate") that is really good, and has almost ZERO calories or cholesterol!

It uses weird stuff as above. Darn good, it'd surprise you!
