What is happening to this Community?

Now I have never been a presence in this community nor have I posted regularily, but I have often just read the threads to see what was happening to the other people here. Since I joined here I was amazed at the spirit in the community between those who would contribute. People seemed geniunely interested in what was happening to others here and would go to lengths to help those who were having trouble in their personnal lives. It was (and pardon the expression) quite moving.

But over the past few weeks what has built up over years seems to be getting ruined. This forum is being dominated by ill-feeling and more often ill will toward others.

At this moment events are taking place that nobody would want, but eventually they will end in some form or other. But the legacy of what is being said here could have very permanent effects for many on this site.

All Im trying to say here is let us not allow ourselves to damage what we have managed to build here.

And one other point to consider. Many people who come to this site for the first time will look to the IMO Community to see what the forums are like (as it is the forums community) and it is what they see there that will determine whether they join. And I personnally would have reservations about joining if I were to read some of the latest postings.

Lets all just be careful.

personally I do not know if the heat will continue after the conflict.

People (myself especially) are trying to convert and dispell what we feel are myths. Trying to others see what we feel is right on an emotionally charged topic that affects us all. The failure to do so with our best information (which is pretty thin on both sides) is causing some friction. I do not believe this is a death blow to techimo (hey that rhymes).

Epidemic I was not saying that this will affect TechIMO.
What I was saying was that there was a spirit between the members who contributed to the Community section of this site and now that spirit is disappearing.

And in my opinion alot of what is being said will not gain converts to any side it just seems to aggrivate the feeling of ill will.

I too hope that we don't get overworked about this mess. I see a lot of things outside our community in America in general that are disturbing (ex. everyone's anti-French now) and I wonder how it will affect our relations after this mess is finished.

Well I do see disagreement in a ton of recent threads, but who cares?! Contraversy is healthy and that's what makes us individuals...just because I don't agree with what others have to say doesn't mean I lose any respect for them. I honestly didn't think that any of these "issues" were affecting the Community morale...or am I wrong?


I will still share the Executive M&M's that I steal with all of you whether you agree with what I have to say or laugh in my face.

I don't post as much here either, partly because of work, but also because I know what I think about the war, but really don't feel like "discussing it" all the time. If you do, I'm all for it, just not my cup of tea

One good thing is my postcount is on the rise again. did you know there was actually threads outside of the community?

I myself am trying not to post much in the "War" threads. Differing opinions is great but name calling, which I have seen in these war threads, is not what Techimo is about (not to sound corny). I will read for info and maybe for opinions but I don't see mind's on either side changing because it is such an emotional topic.
