Who would like to see a flat tax? How much would you be willing to pay if there was one? This would be the only tax you'd pay from now on. No more April 15th deadline. JUst pay as you go. Everyone pays.

10 cents. Flat. Sound good. Providing everyoine pays and it stays flat at all income levels.

Shahani and I agree, everyone should be responsible for the same percentage of their income going towards the government.

I still think that a value added tax is far superior.

No tax on essentials basic food clothing and medical care.

This gives the poor more buying power. If they decide to splurge on a prepared meal or nikes latest high test shoe then he will pay tax on that.

After that you could tax everything @ about 15 to 20 cents. That seems to be where the number falls in all the proposals.

In the case of a plain old flat tax I believe that it should start somewhere around 30,000 bucks Bill gates and you will all receive a grace on the first 30,000 (a deduction as it were)

Basic 1040 will now read something like this How much did you make this year 44,000 bucks ok then you are taxed on 14,000.

Again I cant see taking 20% away from someone making 18,000 bucks a year. That would give them a living income of only 14,400.

If you do the math - 10% is more than enough.

Russia started using it and since then, their economy has really taken off. All for it, I am.

With my $20,000 per year income, I have to agree that 20% would hurt. $4,000? For what? Social Security?

Epidemic, Outpatient, Vern, and Me... It's a record!!!

And for the record, I'm sort of with Epidemic that a purely flat tax is not the way to go.
