If the Iraqi's had just complied with the orders to disarm they wouldn't be getting bombed and killed now would they?

I suppose the right thing to do, in your eyes at least, would be to sit around singing "KumBah Ya" while the iraqi forces set up artillery to kill our troops.

I would think that saying "You've got 48 hours to get out of Dodge or it's your ass.", is sufficient warning.

Do you think the surrendering Iraqis may have given intel on the artillery site prompting the strike?

I don't think the defectors had anything to do. This kind of strike needs lot of preparation and was planned well in advance as a pre-war strike to warn them of the coming war.

This is very different from the US actions in Iraq over the last few years which were defensive in nature.

This is an offensive strike, indicating the start of War.

US planes (and I would think possibly RAF) have been striking specific targets for atleast a week now (not just responding defensively to being acquired by Iraqi tracking systems). Its been mentioned on the news here from time-to-time (mostly BBC and Sky News).
