These surrendered troops can actually work alongside the invading Army as guides and in tactical manouvers. But you gotta watch out for bad apples in them who may try funny stuff. |
It wouldn't really make much of a difference if 10 or 10,000 surrender...from my view as a USAF member of course. I pretty much know what's out there...good point about using their soldiers to gain an advantage, but we'll just shuffle them to the back where it's safe. Once they are captured, it is our responsibility by military law to protect them.
We all knew Saddam and his sons wouldn't step down, but I don't think that's what these 48 hours are really about. We're giving the people that
want to leave Iraq a good window in which to do so.
