Do you keep your bread in the fridge?

What are you supposed to do with it? Does keeping it in the fridge make it get stale faster or last longer? Or nothing just take up space?

Absolutely. We are really spastic when it comes to bread, sometimes it lasts 2 or 3 days, sometimes it would set until it got the "green measles"...

But in the 'fridge, it'll last a long time.

Edit: what kind of bread we talking about here? If it's "Wonder"..."bread" you can use that as a carpet underlayer and then dig it back out and eat it a month later!

It's normally eaten very quickly in our house. If it's not gone in one night we normally throw it in the freezer.

I figured the de-humidified air would turn it dry sooner in the fridge.

Ah but mold isn't the only sign of stale bread.
How about when you take a bite and it's dry. I hate that!

Not if you keep it wrapped and sealed.

If there is a leak though, it'll dry out pronto!

If i've got a few extra loaves I chuck them in the freezer and when I want bread I just microwave (thaw it out)

We buy small loaves and usually eat it all before long. I hate frozen bread it's just not the same after having been frozen.......

OK like now I have 2 loaves. One for me (whole grain) and one for Fingers (I'm gradually weening him from sponge bread **Wonder**) so his is some country white ... hearty white bread We will never eat it before it's stale, but which way will it stay the freshest? I read that putting it in the fridge made it get stale sooner than on the counter...
