Answer the door unarmed?

I have always said that the most dangerous animal in the world is the 2 legged nearly hairless ape. I keep a bat next to my front door for that very reason. My friends were making fun of me for that today, but what does it hurt? The bat takes up almost no room at all and it is there in case I ever need it. As soon as I am 23 It will probably be a pistol. (At 23 I can obtain my CCW in my state. I know I don't need it to keep it in my front door, but once I have it, I will carry it.)

Anyways, I was wondering if any one else answers the door with a weapon handy, or am I just a little bit weird?

The knives drawer is right besides the door.

I learned from rtcw and MOHAA that you can simply keep a grenade in hand, Pull the safety and then answer the door. It makes a decent weapon hand to hand and if you lose the fight you still win

. Re activating them is difficult to get the slow burn fuse so mine just go off with a primer

BTW No I do not use a weapon to answer the door but I also do not choose to live anywhere I would feel the need to either.

I live in a very nice neighborhood, but I still think that it doesn't hurt anything to have a bat sitting by the door. Plus, if I do ever need it, I will be very glad to have it.

I think it is like backing up your PC, a just in case kinda thing.

I agree with the better safe than sorry theory. Flip side of that is I hate to give in to fear. Soooooo, I choose the I ain't gonna worry bout it tack.

I dunno - I don't see it as giving in to fear, more of an error on the side of caution deal.

Regarding your CCW...If you think you need a gun, don't go!

If you need to use it, only let your assailant know you armed when he sees the flash!

And do fire a second shot that misses (as your first shot), and only plug him once.

A CCW is a major PIA in real life!
