when you absolutely HAVE to be it you or the other guy...
or home defense.. or the enemy in war.. otherwise..never

on an individual level.

In defense of your life, defense of children and defense of other peoples lives. On occasion when someone plans your demise pre-emptive killing is also pretty good.

I also believe that post defensive is on occasion ok.

Of course war but on the battlefield I guess that would be considered defensive even when offensive. Beating the enemy ultimately saves your life or the life of your fellow soldiers.

well what if someone attacks with a knife? i would never kill him (i would run away).

See, jokostel, what you say makes sense. But what I said involves dealing with my conscience. Killing another human being is something I could never do. Its got nothing to do with religion or beliefs. Its just my conscience.

And with friends like Centurion maybe I'll never have a chance to even test my conscience.

I am with shahani on this one. I go as far as self defense. If someone attacks me, I will fight back and if I have him in a situation where I could kill him, I simply wouldn't do it.
Just respect for human life wouldn't let me do someting like that..
