UN plans to give Saddam 72 hours to leave Baghdad

Saddam Hussein and his family are to be given 72 hours on Tuesday to accept an offer of exile, while 50 of Iraq's top military brass will be offered an amnesty in return for full co-operation with the United Nations in a secret plan to be tabled at its New York headquarters.

The highly sensitive proposal was tabled by Pakistan during a closed-door meeting of the 10 non-permanent members of the Security Council on Friday and was brokered by Saudi Arabia, the Vatican and moderate Arab states. Failure by Saddam to agree to the plan would clear the way for war.

I wonder how many of these news articles are true. I mean how can they be secrets when posted on the internet?

You should see some of the more bizarre stuff I come across while researching these news tidbits.

I limit my posts to the more sane sounding articles, though I can not certify to the validity of any supposed "secret plans."

If this is true, I feel , it would be a good solution, take alot of heat off all involved. I surely would hate to see our boys( and ladies) get gassed or worse but for damn sure, hate to see SaDamn get away with any more of his tricks.

Naive to think it is true. Saddam will go down fighting and killing not only US soldiers but his own people.

I don't think this will have such a cut and dry ending given Saddam's history. This is a very cruel man and he will not run away.
