"Proof" that Iraq sought uranium was fake

Quote:
The head of the U.N. nuclear agency has shot down allegations that Iraq tried to revive its nuclear arms programme and says fake documents back U.S. claims Baghdad tried to buy uranium to make bombs.

In what some believe was his last update report to the U.N. Security Council on weapons inspections in Iraq, International Atomic Energy Agency Director-General Mohamed ElBaradei undermined Washington's position just as it scrambles for support for a U.N. resolution paving the way for war in Iraq.

"Based on thorough analysis, the IAEA has concluded ... that these documents, which formed the basis for the reports of recent uranium transactions between Iraq and Niger, are in fact not authentic," ElBaradei told the U.N. Security Council on Friday.

Wow, the evidence keeps coming forward that disproves everything that the U.S. and the U.K. claimed. Now I understand the push to kill the inspections and initiate war plans.

Gotta love it when a trigger happy country plants evidence in order to stop a war. That's a real kick in the nuts for the Bush administration now, isnn't it? Morons.

easy now, willie. If it wasn't for the US, inspections wouldn't even be happening now, would they....

And there are many many other matters - nuclear weapons were not a major point. Chamical and biological weapons are the bread and butter of Iraqi warfare. That is where their expertise lies, and their lies are expertly enacted. Tons of chem and bio weapons that existed in '98 when inspectors were kicked out are unaccounted for when we forced the issue and made Iraq let inspectors back in. They have yet to submit proof of their destruction, which should not be a difficult issue. Just ask Hanz Blix.
