I feel sorry for the conditions our troops have to endure while waiting. If hot weather comes upon them, that makes it worse and that's prime time for Gas attacks. At least the wind helps nertralizes his chemical and bio weapons.
This also buys time to get the 4th infantry in position in Northern Iraq since I has to be done by air, and re giggle supply routes. Also, the Turkish military is "pressuring" their parliment to let the Americans in. They don't want us getting to chummy with the Kurds.
We could also start the air campaign and leave let Saddam and Co. rot in Bagdad and just bomb coordinates where we think he might be, or where he shoots anything from. That is another good way to get the people behind us and tell us where the hiding places are. We can make their cell phones come alive and work for us.
