Many sides helped out, some with equipment, some with money and some with ABC material An article about US and German firms that worked in and with Iraq concerning nuclear, chemical and biological warfare. I'm sure there many others from other countries too, this is just one of the latest articles I read about it.

The US went a long way in making Iraq (and Saddam) what it is today. It was our mistake so we should fix it.

Can't help being cynical but when will this country stop these things which require undoing (and killing people) every now and then?

It happened in Afghanistan with the Taliban, now Iraq, maybe North Korea if the Administration comes clean......

God only knows what other skeletons are hidden in the closet. Israel/Palestine, the erstwhile Yugoslavia,.........

When you grow a garden you occasionally need to pull the weeds.

Weeds that serve a purpose are a garden until they are unwanted.

I think the meddling the US has done over the years has for the most part been beneficial, both to the US and the world in general. At the time we were providing support to Iraq they were in a war with Iran. At that time Iraq was the lesser of two evils. And the Reagan administration handled it pretty smart. They didn’t provide so much support that Iraq would easily overpower Iran. They provided just enough support to cause a long, drawn-out war which ended with Iraq on top.

Saddam isn’t the only nasty problem we created. We helped the Taliban against the Russians. I think we also had a hand in putting Qadhafi in power in Libya.
