Dream Recording
hey yall. ever had an awesome dream but find that it is really hard to remember or explain to others? well i have. and i was wondering... how far have we come to being able to "read minds" with technology etc.? i remember seeing something on discovery a while back about how they think they can do this to a certain degree with some kind of new technology and the were researching it. it would be the coolest thing in the world to do this and record your dreams like in a movie or something. obviuosly they cant read minds yet, but where do we stand as far as the research, etc.?

Well... ever since I was little (like maybe 10 or 12 years old) I always wondered if it was possible to record dreams just like in a videocassete or something.! In those days, there wasn't the kind of technology to do that.. I'm still waiting!!!

You can record brainwaves, but you can't play them back...

ever seen final fantasy the movie? I really liked the movie (never like the games though). They have one in that movie. I think it would be a bad idea as I don't want my friends to know some of the stuff I dream. Pretty dark stuff usually.

| Arthur C. Clarke wrote a funny story about just such an invention. I can't remember the name of the piece, but it appeared in Tales from the "White Hart". |

Yeah.. I saw the FF movie and I thought it was cool!
The thing is that you don't have to show your dreams to your friends. Heck... if that was the case, they wouldn't have to rent any movies. lol

Movie: Brainstorm
But other than that, it can't be done, and probably won't be anytime soon.
Your best option is to just keep a notepad and pencil by your bed. Whenever you wakeup after a dream, write it down, immediately. Don't do it 5 or 10 minutes later because you'll forget most of it in that time.
If you start doing this then very quickly you will begin to remember more and more of your dreams. You'll have more vivid and complete memories of your dreams.
ALL of us dream multiple times per night but most of us remember none of them. Occasionally we'll remember one.
You don't have to worry about keeping an organized "dream diary" or anything like that because the task of writing them down is not necessary for keeping any record of them, it's merely to train your brain to start remembering them. I can testify that the method actually works, very well.
