Do you know what DC is?

....Distributed Computing that is

I'm embarassed to admit it, but up until about 2 weeks ago, I didn't. Sure I knew what DC stood for, and I had a vague idea of what it was, but I really had no idea what the projects were or how they worked.

Now that I'm doing it (UD THINK & ECCp), I really regret not looking into DC sooner. Joining one of the TechIMO DC teams is a great way to show your support for this site, and the friendly competition creates a whole new sense of community.

If you have any questions, check out the TechIMO Distributed Computing Teams Page or ask about the projects in the Distributed Computing forum.

I don't see why they would...after all it is for a good cause.....as long as it wouldn't get in the way of your work....

DC -- a nest of politicians/lawyers?

DC is , like Fingers says, a fun competition between TechIMO members and other teams from across the world. I have been active with DC for 1 month today ! Enjoy it throughly.
I have boxes on UD Cancer and Genome@home.

It's a good thing.

I'd give the same advise for any of the projects too; don't install them without the permission of the owner.

Once you get started, your hooked!
The competition is real fun, and you get to learn a lot more about how your PC is really "just sittin there" 90% of the time.

Why not have your Pc do something good, like help to fight Cancer! Maybe have it do some molecule sorting (sorry, I dont do the Genome thing, too busy with UD Think and ECCp)

This is also a GREAT Benchmark test for your PC's!

We have tested all types of systems with ECCp and found that the BEST chips are the AMD's!
They can almost perform 30% better than Intel!!!

Wanna test it yourself? Check out the links to the DC forum page....

Hope to see a few stranges in the wood

I'm running four computers on ECCp right now - it can be a lot of fun to compete against others for the best position in the stats. TechIMO is also competing against teams from other sites (like the evil Team Anandtech), so we need all the help we can get.

I heard there is a bug with XP do you know when that will be able to be fixed?

I dual boot my machine, and if I can keep cranking on both sides that would be great!

oh and how can I force it to upload? lol
