LOUD talkers

Why is it necessary for people to talk SO LOUD?!?!
I have my headphones up loud enough so I can't hear a phone 2 feet away from me, but some folks I work with TALK SO LOUD that I can hear every word they say and keep up with the conversation

Maybe I don't get it because I'm generally a soft spoken person...

I'm (believe it or not!) trying to get some work done, but its hard to work on some things when you hear CONSTANT talking behind ya

I don't mind people chatting when they don't have much to do.. fine.. BUT PLEASE.. lol

Try to talk at a normal level
I know one guy has a little bit of a hearing problem, but its not THAT bad...
One guy, as he's talking if you try to say something HE JUST TALKS LOUDER!!

Sorry.. just had to vent
I'm too nice sometimes, I should just be an A-hole and say SHUT UP! lol

If you are having a conversation with someone.. it should be between those two people.. i've been with many a loud person that you could probably hear them from anywhere in the resteraunt/movie theatre..

It's not too difficult to monitor your voice level every now and then..

Maybe just say.. hey.. my hearing is sort of sensitive.. can you tone it down a bit?

Sorry to see that its bugging ya. Have you tried suggesting to these people to keep thier voices down? If that is not an option does the office have a suggestion box that is read often? Maybe put a suggestion in there for people to lower thier voices.

I like to turn around and stare at them, and when I finally get their eye, I hold my hand flat, palm down, and make a slow "pushing down" motion. Most people take it in good grace and we smile together, and they get quieter.

Of course there are some people who are completely insensitive, and you have to resort to more extreme measures. I like people like them, too, especially when I've had a bad day!

Huh?

Anyway, I can be a very soft spoken person, and usually am in casual conversation. I can crank out some serious volume, though. One time I got injured and was sitting in a car in he parking lot next to my church. I screamed so loud, the sound easily reached the group of people inside the church building next to me. I also got a bloody nose. I can be loud when I want to, but I'm usually a soft-spoken person.

Believe it or not, despite my outspokenness ont he forums on some topics, I am soft-spoken as well. I hate loud talkers. The only thing I can't stand more are close-talkers, like that guy on Seinfeld.

I took the wife to the store today, and was waiting outside when this SUV is pulling in,and playing Nelly, It's hot in here, and I could here this lady's conversation about roy and bill above the stereo, and they were 2 rows away from me,I mean comeon' I really don't care.

I thought for the most part she just had some unknown need to yell

I'd prolly say Shutup to them Vass

I hate close talkers as well. Why do people have to get in your face just to talk to you. I'd rather have people talk loud form a distance. I always give people I'm talking to at least a 2 foot distance.

Close talkers? They ain't nuthin'! Ever deal with a nudge talker? They're like close talkers except they nudge or bump into you to get your attention if you aren't looking directly at them when they're 3 inches away.

They make me mad.

But yeah, I'm a quiet type of person myself. Usually caught not talking at all.
