"Do Not Call" Solicitor Registry in MA

I received an interesting email from a friend here in Massachusetts, so this may not be applicable to members in other states. Though, it may be.

Are you tired of solicitors calling your home? Disrupting your privacy? Intruding upon your quiet corner of this sometimes nutty planet?

At least in Massachusetts (though hopefully in other states) there is a something you can do to stop these irritants.

Go to: https://www.madonotcall.govconnect.com/Welcome.asp and supply the requested info. The result should be blissful relief from "credit card courtesy calls" where you are offered a "payment protection plan" or a call telling you about "such a subscription deal" on the local paper you never want to read, etcetera!

Whenever someone tells me it's a "courtesy call," I cut him off with "No; it's a discourtesy call," and hang up.

George Carlin had a good retort for these predators ... something like: "What's your home telephone number? I'll call you back."

I do not remember it exactly, but it's pretty funny!
