Outdoors my day is just dandy, how is urs?

I just got my new logitech keyboard and mouse in, and now 2 days later my computer is going buggy. I ran spybot, adaware, nortons virus scan. The computer wont shut down, so i just turn off the power. Then when it starts up, windows says there are inconsisties in the drive. Im am so tired of this crap, that i think i am gonna copy my back up drive over. This a new record for me, crapping up whole computer in only 2 months after a format . How many times should i format my main drive before copying over my back up? would 2 times be good?

There is no reason you should have to format more than once.

are you sure its not going to be buggy after you copy the back up? a nice clean install might help. or even a repair install. ( install over the existing OS with a fresh copy. leaves all your programs installed)

i think i may give that a try bob, ill install xp again, maybe that will fix it.

The second hd shouldnt be buggy because the only things installed on it are xp, nortons, and the essential stuff. I dont install anything else, it is like my back up if everything goes buggy. So that i dont have to format install xp and all the other stuff again.

I don't recommend doing a reinstall over the existing buggy OS. If that worked OK, you should really only need to use the update critcial files wizard.

But it don't tend to work, IMO. Still leaves the bugginess.

Nothing like a fresh, fresh install! Just save your data first.

Oh, and you could use the file and setting transfer wizard, but I'm a bit suspicious if that as well. I think it might carry over buggy DLL's and stuff (who knows what it copies?? )

Anyway, that's my opinion.

Cheers
Mick the fresh enthusiast!

BTW, my day is just fine. Win95 at work has only crashed twice so far.

I love how fresh windows smells right after it comes off the CD, but unfortunately there isn't any bounce so the freshness doesn't stay for seven days

Mick, only twice, you must not be using it.
