School Zone and Speed Limits

hey yall. i was wondering, if there is a school zone and the normal speed limit is 45 but in the school zone during school hours 7:30-4:30 it is 35, but it is when school is not in, like in the summer, can you still get a ticket for going 45 during the school hours?

Our signs say " 15 MPH when children are present " And we have flashing signs at the school zones. If school is in you prabably wopuld get a ticket. School zone is only a block or , doesn't hurt to back off the gas for such a short peice.

If the signs give a time that the 35 or 15 mph is in effect and you are outside of that time, then you should not get a ticket. If an officer gives you one, take a picture of the sign and with the time on the ticket, the judge should dismiss the ticket.

In our town, we have flashing lights during those times, but on Holidays, weekends and summer, they disable them, so I don't think you could get a ticket

Our zone by our house is Monday-Friday. What about the Monday holidays or in-service days when it is technically within the time frame but no school children. That is the question I believe.

It should be dismissed.

This is something I have always found funny. Sometimes the lights blink when school is out for a holiday or something. Sometimes during the summer they do. Some signs give hours and some don't. Here the speed limit is 15MPH in school zones. 35MPH sure would be nice. If I know school is out I cruise right through them but others slow down anyway.

I got pulled over once for going through one too fast, the flashing light was broke. After showing the cop it was not working he let me go. But what do you do if your clock in the car is ten minutes slow/fast or you don't have one and there is no flashing light?

[sigh!] Where do we find these people?

What do you do? You slow the hell down. If there is any chance of any children being around, regardless of what time it is or if anything's flashing, you slow the hell down.

Tell me, what do you do if you hit a kid because you were going too fast because your cheap ass clock ain't right? Do you shift the blame to your clock. I don't think so.

Today school zones annoy me!

In this day and age kids are picked up at their door even if that door is right across from the school. Then the kids are kept on a short leash some 200 yards away from the road. Open up the speedway and let me fly through Seriously though our school system does not have any kids walking to school and kids are not even alowed at the front lawn. The only iffy time is when busses are loading and unloading so I say speed should only be limited to those times. Other school systems may be different but that is how it works at this end of the county.

BTW Out, we find these people somewhere around Bay Area, CA USA. The home of people like that.
