Kids Atkins diet

Anybody on it? Does it work?

I had originally heard some less-than-stellar things about it, but lately it's been showing promising signs. There have been some really positive short-term studies and several organizations are introducing long-term studies.

I tried it once for about two weeks and I did drop a fair amount of weight, but it required me to give up bread, pasta, fruit, and sugar in my coffee. Those are my four main food groups. Couldn't hang with that for long.

I've never followed these 'diets' as most are unrealistic and deprive you of something or another. They might be ok if you need to drop the weight quickly, but if you want to be healthy and keep the weight off, ya gotta eat right and EXERCISE...

That said, check out the Zone Diet. Seems like it's a sensible "diet", but I wouldn't buy into their bars and such.. Using your palm/fist as a food portion indicator is an old trick but a good one to keep food portions on track..

With all the diets out there, you can't beat eating less and working out (run, bike, walk...whatever). When you get a craving to snack, eat fruit.

Yeah, but what happens when you crave for Fries with Ketchup?

Sounds stupid, but happens to me all the time. Can't beat Liberty Fries (crisp) dunked in ketchup.

The "Sugars Busters" Sweet referred to looks like it might be a decent approach the book gets high reviews. Does not seem as quick as Atkins but might be easier

EDIT: And sorry all for this thread in the first place. I should know better than to post something like this without searching for a similar thread first.
