Ouch!
Today I had to go to the dentist. I had, not one, not two, but five cavities that had to be filled! The ironic part was, he had given me at least 4 or 5 shots, not to mention, the gas, and I was still feeling the pain through it all.
Then, after all was said and done, it was CE's turn to go in...............

Five cavities???
Do you use whitening toothpaste? If so, stop, that stuff's just a polishing compound that removes enamel.

From what my mom, it is yet another thing I have inherited, along with other such iddies. I could brush a dozen times a day, with the most gentle toothbrush and/ir toothpaste, and I would still end up with cavities.

I was lucky and got my dad's teeth b/c my mom's were bad. 5 cavities! Wow. I've only had one and it was so little they didn't use anesthetic.

I'll just stay out of this conversation besides to say, OUCH. I have had more than that, MANY more at a time. But, I do know your pain. I am a hard one to numb to.

I had to go in once for some work on a fang, and my dentist shot like 2 tubes full of novacaine in my jaw, and I could STILL feel it..
On the third load, he accidently hit the mandibular nerve with the needle, and WHAMMO! instant deadening.
My head also jerked like I was in a car wreck
He said "I bet its numb now.." I asked him why he was putting the stuff in the back of my jaw when he was working in the front and he said it was easier to go around the nerve at the back than try to get it around the 1 tooth up front. When it happened, half my jaw on the right side went numb..
He explained that the nerve comes down out of your head in front of your ear, down thru the jaw and halfway around, and stops at the middle of your chin, hence half my jaw going dead on the side he was juicing me up on..
Gimme da gas man!

| I've personally started to not like my dentist. Mind you, all my life I've been going to the dentist...cleanings every 6 months...up til ten years ago when I joined the Army.
Started going again, had to go through a thorough Deep Cleaning over the course of 5 weeks, this of course being after having a cavity/crack in my molar fixed, only to have the next molar drilled because of another crack, and now the first tooth is loose and hurts if I clamp down on anything hard. Ergh!
My dental insurance takes care of 80% which is nice....too bad I have to front 100% and get reimbursed....
My wife on the other hand....30 years old and needs a full set of dentures. Mind you this is going to cost me 5 Grand I don't have....
Why doesn't someone invent novacaine for the wallet?

I hate my teeth, love the dentist - don't care about the pain.
I had the misfortune of being given too much flouride by my pediatric dentist when I was a kid. Resulted in my teeth coming in without any enamel... Or maybe the enamel is just very soft, I don't really remember the explanation I was given.
So, that has always meant spending more time at the dentist than necessary. But it is worth it.

Ouch. I've had one and that mofo hurt. A lot.
I wasn't aware that they gassed people for cavities???
I haven't had any health insurance in almost 10 years. That ends all hopes of dentistry.

Even with the gas, and the novicane, I was still feeling the pain, as if the area had never been shot up in the first place.
