Terminology help needed

Okay in german we have two types of motors, diesel and benzin.

Whats the benzin called in english?
Gas motor?

I'm looking for the right terminology to search for comparisons of the two.

To confuse things a bit more, in France gasoline is "essence", but diesel is "gazole".
