what gets syrup out of carpet

i kind of spilled a lot of syrup on the carpet.. all in one area, maybe a 3" circle... a thing spilled during the night the other day, by the time i got up it was already dry, so i just ignored it.. now i wanna do something about it
carpet is a beige, likely colorfast or whatever thats called.. i have some stain stuff but i wanted to see if there was anything easier.. since rubbing that stuff is a pain...........
at my old age its hard you know...........

I think the best way to remove the syrup will be for you to go to your local supermarket and rent a rug cleaning steam machine. Make sure you get the best one you can, and use the hottest water you possible.

If you HAVE TO:
Get a towel about twice the size of the spot. Wet it, wring it out just enough that it doesnt drip. The water needs to be the hottest you can get it, so if the water out of the tap isnt hot enough(DONT BURN YOURSELF), put it into a microwave (if you have one) to get the wet towel as hot as you can and still handle it. Put it down and press into the spot. Blot, wiping will smear hot syrup around instead of picking it up. Repeat until no stickiness remains. You will have to wring the towel out several times top remove the absorbed syrup.

All in all the steam machine will be a much better solution.

Syrup will gradually migrate down into the fibers and eventually you will have a large black stain from all the bacteria and dirt adhearing to the fibers of the rug. You should get any sticky substance up as fast as you can especially sugar based spills.

Hot water and detergent to get the syrup out... I really don't know what to do about a stain, if one does remain - which is most likely will.

Go for a common stain remover, and if that doesn't work - rent a steam cleaner. :P

Hot soak....
Steam Clean....
Oxyclean to get the stain out.

Oxyclean really does work wonders.

Oh, shoot, Red, they weren't so bad!

Although we may possibly be comparing different experiences.

With me it was pretty great. But in the clear light of (the next) day, it was a pretty crazy idea.

So..... at that time, I do wish I would've had the benefit of no1_vern 's advice. Sounds like it might have worked pretty good.
