An INS horror story

If you're entering the US on a Canadian passport, don't have the wrong color skin.

Hmmmm, seems like this event is bordering on racial profiling. Oh, hold on, I forgot that the INS can now legally discriminate against people based on their skin colour and place of birth.

I thought they had massive databases and access to intelligence, how hard would it have been to double-check* something before behaving like a total @rse and sending the Canadian woman back to India?

*with the Canadians for example i.e. "Is this woman one of your nationals?"

That assumes an absence of both malice and stupidity, at least one of which seems to have been at work here.

Its peeps like this that give the Government Agencies a bad name.

My guess is he wanted a bribe to support his errr.....habits or was not the brightest guy in the INS. Normally, they are pretty civil but you gotta understand their job is not more challenging than bagging groceries.

Sometimes they need excitement.

Or he could have been prejudiced.

On my recent vacation to SF I was surprised to see how polite these people were. It also went much quicker than I had expected.

CM, most of them are very polite and helpful.

But you gotta expect a certain percentage of cretins even in the INS.

Just one of those things.

Oh well, it happens. I'd rather have a couple teary-eyed Canadians than more terrorists running around.

The thing is some of these INS morons wouldn't recognize terrorists if they were bit on the backside by one.

They harass people either for bribes or to show they are doing their jobs. I compare them to corrupt cops.

Pathetic bunch.
