Are you trying to replace it or replace the glass? Does it open? Is a regular aluminum or vinyl window like the rest of the ones in the house?
Basically a 24 (W) x 12 (H) is called a 2o 1o (alpha "o") Fixed or Picture Window, or Horizontal Slider.

No I don't want to replace one. I want to put one in. It's the classic bath where the 5' tub shower is at the end of the bath and it's on the outside wall. Seems here it's not a real popular option (on the eastern side of the US) no one seems to understand what I'm talking about. (so what's new )
I've lived a few places with a window like that, but can't remember specific details as to the size or even the height of it from the floor. I was thinking it was a 2o 1o or a 2o 1 6.

The easiest window(s) to install would be one that is narrower that the spacing of the studs ..... that way .... no header would be required. So to get the effect your seeking ..... if the stud spacing is 16"OC then you'll have 13-1/4" after sheetrock lining so several 12" wide windows in a row might do it ..... or if the stud spacing is 24"OC then your finished opening after sheetrock would be 22-1/4" so a couple 1'-6" wide windows would do the trick.
Anyway that method would aleaviate having to open up the whole wall and do structural modifications. All you'd need to do is cut the opening in the wall sheathing and slip a board in on the top and bottom to support the sheathing on those two edges of the opening. The moulding will cover a good amount of the reaining space.
Good luck !

I would suggest one that opens. Maybe 3o1o or so. Either way, you need to cut a hole to install it. Most windows are make to fit a "rough opening" that is even - sized, like 24" x 12" , the window you put in will be about 1/2" smaller to allow adjustment.
What you can do is open the wall up from the inside, and make sure your studs are 16" on center, and order a special size that is that measurement minus 1/2", so it fits between them. Then when the window arrives, you only need to cut out the hole from the outside, and put in your sill and header (top) and you are good to go. Due to the size, structural isn't a problem really.
Notes:
- You may want to go with vinyl rather that aluminum windows. (Less condensation)
- Code may require tempered glass. No big deal, just be aware of it.
- If your cutting into stucco, ask for a window with a "stucco key".
- Use screws, not nails so you don't start cracking tile & stuff from vibration.
- Seal it very carefully from the outside using Non-acid silicon (Required on stucco, recommended on wood)
And you are good to go...Keep it simple
Parts man beat me...

usualy codes will require either a window or a fan , I have a window about 4X1 foot so high over the tub it is unreachable, but legal I would never open it any way. the other bath room has a 2x2 window over the pot, think size is very flexable. here they are frosted and double glazed. sounds like construction is moving along ?????

Since it is new construction, go with a fan and a window. Bathrooms are notorious for humidy - creating mildew, and fans are noisy and need to be shut off. Minimum standard is one or the other. Get both!
Speaking of fans...If you want to spend a little more, ask for a fan with sound rating of 2.5 sones or below. You can also have the electrician install a timer type switch. (check out Home Depot or Lowes for types). As fans get older they get noisier.

While on the subject of bath fans, get one that's a combo unit with a heat lamp.
They're great on those cold days when - no matter what the furnace does - it's cold getting out of the shower!! It'll warm the area 10 - 20 degrees higher than it was within minutes.
Definately put such a lamp on a timer switch, though. Wired ours to a one hour switch, and I doubt it's ever been on more than ½ hr, so why risk leaving it on??
