Playing console games on big screens?

Someone told me the other day that playing any type of console game on a big screen will damage the tv. Is this true. I cannot find any evidence? I have been using my big screen to play both Dreamcast and PS2.

with the older tvs you can have burn in. i.e. putting the game on pause for extended amount of time will cause and imprint of the game on the screen.

the newer tvs are designed not to have that same problem. there should be any damage of playing console on a big screen tv

It's okay to play on a big screeen TV! Just as long as it's not a projection one. I don't know why you're not supposed to play on a projection TV though, but I remember reading it somewhere.

Well, mine is a 55" Phillips projection. Purchased in 2001. Does anyone have any info to support this? There's nothing in the Manual about it??

I have a 46" RCA projection TV and I don't have any problems playing games on it. Then again, I am not for sure if playing games a lot could lead to damage. That may be issue.
Keep my informed...

Well, I have searched and searched and haven't found anything saying that it would cause damage?? So, I guess I will keep using it and if I start to notice anything I guess I'll know why. I can't give up my Nascar 2002/Madden 2002........That's the main reason I got the tv......

I remember it used to say that on the N64 (or in the literature). Don't know why. Maybe it's a precautionary measure....someone playing on an old projection TV can't say the game system ruined it with the disclaimer.

You only damage your big tv if you leave the game paused for a long time.!!!!!

This is called Burn IN (think of it as what happens when you look straight at the sun and when you close your eyes, you still see the shape of the sun but with disco colors!!! ).
