Update: Rumsfeld now says they are as ready as ever and just need a nod from the C-in-C.

If they wait too long, the summer's gonna start and make it very difficult because of extreme temperatures and dust storms.

I'd say Monday Morning is a good time.

I agree. I meant early Monday Morning which is Sunday nite here. Catch Saddam by surprise 'cause he'd be sleeping with the time zones and all.

Well, Rumsfeld says invasion and I agree. Liberation implies the Iraqi people want you to come and help them. I haven't heard any such thing.

In fact, there is talk of a hostile local population.

Liberation may sound nice and easy and more acceptable to the US public but I don't think it applies here.

After all, there will be a lot of civilian casualties.

It could have been labeled liberation had GWB listened to global reasoning and removed Saddam Hussain in a diplomatic/negotiated way.

Doubt there would have been worldwide protests had the US intentions and modus operandi been truly altruistic.

Now it is invasion.

Very true shahani. If Bush would have found a better way to "free" the people from the grasp of Saddam then IMO it would have been liberation.

hmm aren't their technicalities here, so it could considered a liberation?

Well, in a sense they will be liberated. But to label the forthcoming war as Liberation is a misnomer. It is an invasion of a soverign country.

Sure the people will be liberated from the evil dictator but I'd feel uncomfortable calling it liberation.

Of course, this is my opinion.

Many people would say this its liberation and the US is actually saving millions from being killed yadi yadi yada.....

What would you expect to hear from the victims of a totalitarian regime? Voices of dissent can't cry from their graves, can they.

How ironic, the last time we liberated people from the grip of an evil dictator who had killed millions of his own people, we earned the gratitude of the world. Now the same people we liberated protest. What short memories.
