Can you believe this??

I took my wife up to the dentist today to have a tooth removed. On the way we went through this little town that had these signs all over the place.(See attachment)

The Omish people are very hardworking, and thier craftsmanship is excellent. I find it hard to believe they do all the work by hand, not one power tool, no electric, no running water,TV,cars,AC, nothing.

I guess if you were born to it it wouldn't be so bad, but I don't think I could hack it

Not that uncommon. A few towns over from here there's a used buggy lot where you can buy yourself a buggy. The whole town over there is Amish. They make awesome furniture. We have a bunch of it.

They are a very interesting group and I remember seeing a nice movie about them. They make awesome wooden items including kitchen tools which are now sold in department stores (Fortunoff).

Those signs are standard fare where I come from.

Yeah, they're interesting all right. Even more so once you find out what all happens behind the scenes. You find out a lot more about them if you have Amish in your ancestry...

They have been in this area for a good many years, but I have never seen any signs, not that I think it's a bad thing, just unusual for this area.
Like I said, thier craftsmanship is second to none,IMO.

That is SO COOL!! A street sign advising us 21st-century-ers to pause a moment for the older ways..

Yeah, Brainchild, I can easily imagine how that would surprise one of us.

The amish work so hard, it would prolly kill me to try to keep up.And I have power tools.
A friend (a missionary from Beliese South America) says we work so hard to pay for the things to make our life easier, but if we had a simpler life we would likely get 10 hours sleep, and be in better shape.I'm begining to believe that.

We have those signs al over here nowadays. When they started poping up I was rather suprised myself.

But then again I do go past a cattle crossing sign on the way out to my Moms house.
