[3] I try and be impassionate and fair to all concerned. These Iraqis are gonna be very sneaky and tricky in the war. You think the US military will be any less sneaky and tricky? |

[1] I don't like a one-sided argument either. I have looked at both sides very diligently, and in this instance have found little to no valid points to change my views.
[2] I never said they were perfect. But, I believe you are completely biased on this aspect. I have seen you speak about this several times. You talk of a few incidents where you think there might have been some impropriety, and use that to discount the entire military. To put it as bluntly as possible, that is completely wrong. I did not see the report on CNN, because I do not watch CNN (too liberal). I am well aware of what goes on at the academy and was not surprised to hear that. This happens at many colleges. How many times has a football player gotten away with rape at another school?
Reading the CNN story makes me wish I had more of the Academy's side of the story. Not being far removed from college myself, I know how erroneous some of these accusations can be. A story like this would peak my interest, but I am objective enough to know that that story's 500 words is far from the entire story.
If any of those women were actually raped, I believe the men should be discharged from the military and jailed.
[3] There's a difference between sneaking and confusing the enemy ont he battlefield and outright lying to get out of a treaty. There is not one single shred of evidence to say that the US has any other intentions but the liberation of the Iraqi people and the safety of American people. Saddam is a liar and Colin Powell proved it earlier this month.
I understand where you are coming from Shahani and thoughtful dissidence is a good thing. The only thing is that the thoughtfulness is missing from your dissidence. I think you see what you like and only listen to that. The US is an honorable country with a few unfortunate incidents that mar our otherwise perfect record. Iraq is a dishonorable nation with very very very few incidents that have marred their perfectly dishonorable record.
