The US Military Establishment is well known for cover ups throughout its history. They are a State within a State with their own laws, judiciary process, and their clever PR.

I do not single out the US. This is true for all countries. It is the nature of the organization---to be secretive, to cover up, to cover its backside.......

Sure 99% of the US Military is honorable and decent and clean.

But the 1% which is dirt tarnishes the image of the whole organization.

It would be naive in my opinion to believe otherwise.

And in a conflict, things get worse ---on both sides. I only say that don't blame the enemy when you do the same.

You see the problem with your theory shahani is that the 99% good and 1 % bad rule runs through all facets of life.

To say that the tarnish is on the us military is rediculous unless they exceed the 1% general corruption found in the population.

Generally speaking they police themselves harder then the rest of the population IMO. On top of that they have the press monitoring them for faults. As a large entity they are a target for concentrated scrutiny. To see as few articles as we do is pretty impressive considering there are people out there who's entire live is to try and discredit the US and here military. Based on the increased coverage and investigation I would say that the corruption is probably more on the order of .001% of the general population's corruption.
