The forces, numbering up to 5,000 troops, with some heavy equipment, are nominally under the command of Ayatollah Mohammad Baqir al-Hakim, a prominent Iraqi Shia Muslim opposition leader who has been based in Iran since 1980 and lives in Tehran.

No worries. Iran is trying to estalibish a Shi'ite state in Iraq. They will fail.

This is exactly what Pres. Bush (Sr.) expected to happen if they continued to completely destroy the Iraqi army in the early 90s. This was the main reason for the premature stopping of hostilities. I wonder how this will affect things, since an Iranian-held Iraq is just as offensive to the world as a Saddam-held Iraq.

I guess the US will have to liberate the people of Iraq from 2 oppressive regimes, not one.
