I was trying so hard to not spend any money this month. Then that blasted
Doc and his deals got me to buy a 40GB drive at Staples. I figured, hey, you can always use another hard drive, right? Then
mypartsguy comes up with a really sweet deal on some RAM (more RAM is good, no?), then to top it all off,
Ritalin Kid lays a sob story on me about how he's stuck with this mobo and AMD cpu. Now I'm thinking, I haven't used my credit card much this month, which was my goal, and here I can get a new mobo and chip without having to ruin that record. Cool, right?
So now I have all the parts to build a new AMD box except the box itself. Newegg to the rescue. I had to use the cc, but it was for a good cause. So by the time I'm done, and with the parts I already have laying around, I'll have a new AMD XP1700 with 1GB of RAM, a 40GB Maxtor drive, and a nice, shiny new case for $330. I built similar rig last year for nearly 3 times that amount.
It's so hard to not spend money when deals like this come along. I think next month I'll have to boycott TechIMO.
j/k,

and mucho thanks to the above mentioned folks for the great deals.
