Bono named for Nobel Peace Prize

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/030218/80/dti32.html
OSLO (Reuters) - The governor of the U.S. state of Illinois who spared all inmates on death row, Pope John Paul, a Cuban dissident and Irish rock star Bono are among a near-record 150 nominees for the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize.

The Governor of Illinois has been considered for a Noble peace prize? For what, for letting go a bunch of murderers. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH as I go screaming and running down the street. GOD, give me some sanity please.

I was hoping to see George W Bush as a nominee for the Peace Price--after all he is aiming (no pun) for global peace by invading Iraq, is he not?

By killing a few tens of thousands of Iraqis he'll save millions of lives. Just like FDR did by nuking the Japanese.

Did FDR get a Nobel Peace Prize?

I think the Pope has moreright than Bono, but who knows what standards these things are really judged by

I'd vote for Bush, but I think it was actually Teddy Roosevelt, and Woodrow Wilson, I just saw it on The History Channel this morning.

How About Jimmy Carter

Hmmm, just read the article on the link...boy, this is a dyed-in-the-wool Liberal crowd, this Nobel nominating committee....

"....chief U.N. weapons inspector Hans Blix and Mohamed ElBaradei, the head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog, will be favourites if they help avert war in Iraq."

(Can't have the fate of nations running willy-nilly in the wrong directions! So we'll award the Nobel to those running a political agenda we like! )

Peace experts say that Americans like Ryan, Nunn or Lugar can probably forget 2003 because Carter won in 2002. The committee increasingly aims for an international scope.

"Two Americans in a row would be too much,"

(Oh, yeah, and how about them Americans anyway, throwing out so many 'possibles' every year!)

Yeah, give it to Bono, finish the trivialization process....
