Public Internet Machines

I just saw this on TV, anyway,they are offering it as a buisness. It's a machine like an ATM that allows broadband internet access for public use.

Anyone see these yet,or use one? I have never seen one, but it is the coolest idea.For people that have family in the hospital particularlly would benifit from it.

We have one something like that at the hospital I work at. They've been around for a while.

Ours keeps breaking down 'cause our net connection is so bad,

Needs a dedicated line to make it work better I think.

But, yes, they can be good for folk away form home needing to email other folk and stufff. Had a guy wanting to send pics of his new baby from his cam - IT folk said it was a non-no though.

What would such a thing cost?

More than a few cows, I would think.

It's kind of a dumb terminal with an LCD touch screen, keyboard and mouse - at least the one we have is. Runs offa our network web server, actually. Supposedly with lots of security in place.

The LCD screen is pretty neat, though. And it's all physically botled down tight so no-one can walk away with it!
