Earnhardt Jr is to Sr as Kyle Petty is to Richard Petty!
Just trying to incite some hate mail here. But really, "Little E" is riding his daddy's coattails all of the way to the bank, he's not a pure racer, like, say Gordon. I have a world of respect for Dale Sr. He earned everything he got, but jr is a different story.

I was tied up all day Sunday and couldn't watch but I saw as many replays as I could find. The great thing about Nascar, one generation moves on and another is there to take the spotlight. They've got some great stars, unlike, say, basketball where they're all a bunch of spoiled rich kids.
Now if only they could get away from their dependence on "vice" sponsors (tobacco and beer).

Me thinks it's a bit more than luck that he wins races don't you?

He sure doesn't win too many, mainly Daytona and Talladega where dei has the formula for the resrictor plate races. You modify the car like that and hthen you hinder the pure drivers. If he can win consistently at places like The Brickyard and Bristol, then I'll give him some more respect.

I challenge any Nascar racer to race me through downtown Boston at Rush Hour
If you want the "Layman's" opinion I would say Jeff Gordon has done the most to bring the sport to the masses.

You make a very good point there osprey, I couldn't agree more. I actually heard that R.J. Reynolds is thinking about withdrawing their sponsorship after a 33 year marriage to Nascar. But, of course, Bush would probably becom the lead sponsor. Then again, if you go to a race, you see those sponsors' products being consumed at rapid rates! LOL, Boston would be a tough track!

Good point Steve
Lil'E just runs into alot of bad luck......A bad battery @ Daytona??!!Then rain ends it before he gets a chance to get back in it ( he did get a lap back, and there was no ruling him out if the race continued normally)
Not whining, just seems like "It's always something!"

steve, if you think the cars are equal why is it that dei drivers waltrip and 'little e' have won 3 of the last four restrictor plate races, but fail to show consistently on other tracks? Granted jr can run in the front at a lot of places, but does he win? not usually, apart from talladega. by the way, I really like waltrip, so i don't have a bias against dei
