I don't even think our military has guns of that calibre...we sure as hell don't have that many bullets.

Just kidding, I have a bunch of friends who are in the military, plus I'm considering joining the reserves this summer. They pay 2000 bucks Canadian to university students, so I don't think I can go wrong there. I could have them pay for my entire tuition, but I'm not interested in devoting 5 years to the military.

The only "base" in BC is the navy communications base in Aldergrove. The other base is an American sub base.....

No navy base for the newfies?
Hmm weren't they supposed to be like the really good ship builders back in the days?

So where does this guy in his battlepaddleboat drop his coffee can filled with cement to anchor?

In British Columbia (BC)(West), we have an American sub base stationed by Vancouver Island. The newfies(East) have a navel base that is actually on the water!! But that is clear across the country.

Regardless of whether or not I still live there, I'll put up with statements made jokingly... But after finally watching a "CANADA LOVES NEW YORK!" commercial for a new, large Canadian-based campaign - if I hear ONE untasteful joke or insult towards Canada not being "supportive" or being some sort of liability in regards to recent world problems, I *strongly* encourage those that do that sort of thing to think again before they consider posting something like on these forums, or allow me to hear it in any conversation. Before I saw that commercial, I probably could have just not said anything - but not anymore.

More so just a forewarning to those who are inconsiderate, as per this thread so far - I haven't really found anything all that "harsh"...

As for how many troops and the amount of equipment that they will be sending, I think that tens of thousands of people are better than none. You should always bear in mind that Canada has never initiated a war, and has always kept good ties with most other countries to ensure that one is never waged against them. And if that ever did happen, their many allies would much more than likely come with assistance.

I'm just glad to see other countries sending their troops in to help.

Hey, what are you guys worried about?

The Montreal Canadians hockey team could take out the Taliban single handedly!

All we got to do is get the temperature down a bit more in Afghanistan. Below 32 degrees F will do nicely.

The term "nuclear winter" comes to mind.

Tech

As a Canadian and In Victoria, BC.... I know what you mean... but don't give up too much hope on us Canucks...

the only thing holding us back is the lack of funding from our Government to the Military...

I know lots of people in the CDN Navy and they all WISH for new and more equipment.

I think in Canada the holdback for alot of us joining a Military Org.. or the reserves is the lack of our equipment.

My wife sent them to me as I mentioned in the first post, she's born and raised Canadian so umm its ok for me to post this

I agree brandon, many times Canada tends to get overlooked... but ya just gotta love 'em

Honestly I'd move to where my wife is in a heartbeat... but job wise pretty much all they got is lumber and some mining a ways north of where they are

(about 45 mins away from North Bay, ON)
