Kids Artist Job Oppourtunities

I have a friend who is a cartoonist. He is presently attending school, and wants a part time job, but is lost. What he'd really like is to get a job where he could apply his skill (cartooning), but both of us are at a loss for ideas as far as what he should do.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

x2

I would advise your friend to go to the local newspaper and talk to the Editorial Dept. Perhaps the paper would consider buying "spot" illustrations and cartoons.

I would also advise him to prepare for a career outside of the art and graphics field, as there just isn't any money in it anymore.

You could also try a billboard advertising agency. Not cartoon related but it might be worth a shot.

He called the local paper and they insisted that if they publish him, that he have a syndication license. Which he quite simply just cannot afford.

He needs to get himself an agent. Just like a baseball player or actor. You have to show your stuff to the right people and you won't even get into the building.
