i completely and utterly believe that when fanatics like OBL say "I will be dying a martyr" it's for 2 reasons:

1) They know they are screwed, and death is a foregone conclusion.

2) They hope that by pronouncing themselves as martyrs, then maybe we'll think twice about takin care o' business fearing some kind of stoneage uprising, and maybe they'll get to live. Just look at how quick Yassar ran to the phone yelling "Martyr! Martyr! Call me a Martyr!" when the Israelis had his complex surrounded!

Well, the only people who would think twice would be the people who have to look up the word martyr!

Why can't these religious fanatics just become Raelians, for god's sake! That way they can just live in stupidity rather than dying for stupidity.

A martyr is seen as a very godly person by fundamentalist Muslims. If Osama does die the death of a martyr, many others of his persuasion would be encouraged to do the same.

In a way, this is a call for more martyrs - more suicide bombers, hijackers and the like.

To the Al Qaeda followers, this is a call to arms, a call to be determined, to a no-holds-barred fighting to the death. The death of a beloved martyr.

To me, it has scary sound. A terrorist sound, if you would.

my point is if they all want to be martyr's so bad by dying in a Holy War to secure their place in heaven, they should all just line up and we'll help them on their way. Happy to be of service, no charge for the bullets. I mean, they're hell bent on dying anyway, right?

I welcome anyone from al-queda to poke their head out from hiding and into the sites of my 12 guage. Deer slugs baby!! That's the best option for them. I need to sight in a new barrel anyway. And while we're extending invitations, anyone from Hamas or Hezbollah or the Al Asqa Martyr's Brigade can stand up and be shot too.

My point is we should avoid making them martyrs if possible. Lock 'em up, but not kill them. Being imprisoned is degrading to them; and would not egg others of their ilk on. Being martyred (killed) would.

I agree with Mick. They should be confronted with the criminal activities they have committed and jailed for 75 years.

This martrydom only motivates the younger terrorist wannabes.

Their whole culture propogates this kind of "martrydom" and they think they will go to heaven for killing innocent people.
