Is Band of Brothers any good?

I'm currently reading the book by Ambrose, and love it. I'm just not sure if its any good. I would find out for myself, but its kind of expensive. Anyone know? I know it could be good, since its directed by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg (not as much)

Worth the money. My Grandad who was in the D-Day invasion and made it through to Nuernburg before being shot felt it too real.

Outstanding stuff.

"Grandpa, were you a hero?"

"No, but the other guys in my outfit were."

Thank God we had them.

Yes I can simply not fathom what these young, brave and honorble men went though. BoB is simply awesome and well worth more than 80 bucks. Ive read the book 3 times seen the whole BoB series about 15 times. It gets better and better each time I see it. The book has fueled my WW2 interest. I guess thats why I love BF 1942 so much. Im currently reading 7 roads to Hell which is equally awesome. I can not recommend BoB on DVD enough. Buy it, respect it, cherish it.

I enjoyed what I saw of it. I watched the first 5 episodes on HBO and haven't rented them yet. I plan to do so soon. It was a great story and I would recommend it highly. It was very well done.

If I could come up with an adjective more powerful and meaningful than OUTSTANDING, I would use it to describe this movie!

I agree, great set of films.
Better than Saving Private Ryan IMO because Spielberg doesn't lay on all the schmaltz this time.
The battle scenes are certainly comparable, and the characters far less clichéd (because they are real people).
