This rare occurrence happened here two nights ago. The fields are filled with thousands of these snowrollers. It looks like teams of giants had huge snowball fights. Very cool.

Researchers at Kansas State University were surprised to learn this week that the odd shaped snowballs spread across several golf courses is a natural phenomenon called a snowroller. Snowrollers develop only under ideal conditions when the combination of wind, temperature and snow is just right. These balls of snow are usually only found in the Arctic and Antarctic. The spotting in Kansas was the first documented case in the continental United States. (Photo: John Stannard/ KSU)
More info. Scroll down to Dec 23 or just do a Find on snowrollers.
