Bat in my apt. this morning???

That's right... the little flappy kind. Actually, this one has some meat on its bones. Bout broke my damn pinky toe when it flew into my bedroom when I opened the door. I hit the deck hard.

Anyway, it is trapped in my room and I can't get ready for work. Prolly have to use half a sick day as I am waiting for maintanence to get here.

Now the good question is how the hell did the bat get in my apartment? Chief suspect right now is a package from computergeeks that arrived tuesday night. I don't have the slighest idea where it came from other than that.

What a way to start the day.

It's cold outside. They wanna get in where it's warm.

Probably just came in through a crack somewhere. I used to live in an apartment building that used to be an old bank. I had three one year.

I agree w/ you hittin' the deck. You know they drink your blood? They wait for you to sleep at night, and then they get you!

lol. EvilRick: It was 7 below yesterday. I thought bats were inactive in the winter.

As for hittin the deck, I was half awake and here comes this thing dive bombing me as I opened my bedroom door =) Noticed I have a decent rugburn on my knee too =)

W/ 8' ceilings and standing at 6'2", I don't like them buzzing my ears. They are notorious for trying to eat ears.

I had one fly in through a screen window once. I had the windows open, w/ just the screen in. One of those little basta... things just dive-bombed through it.

He just circled the ceiling fan for about 10 minutes. ( I was laying on the floor tyring to figure out WTH I was gonna do )

I finally got a broom and "gently" knocked him down. I coraled him into a cardboard box and put it outside.

Caught the sucker (NPI... no pun intended). Once I get my cinnamon toast crunch in me I am several shades braver =) Awake as well.

No what to do with it? Don't want to just throw it outside. I imagine it would freeze. Ah well, called the health dept and asked them, they are going to call me back. They'll prolly kill it themselves anyway. =(

I have heard of bats in the house before. I thought it was someone here that had it happen, and they caught it in a blanket and took it outside and turned it loose.I'm glad we don't have bat problems here, just oppossums, and racoons

Had one in my house once I caught it in a shoe box and let it go outside. Do see what else you can really do with it. Speaking of eating ears I saw a show called "living with bugs" it was saying sometimes cockroachers nibble on eyelashes and fingernails while you sleep I had a hard time falling asleep after that

It is going to animal control. They have to test it for rabies. It seems like it was destined to die one way or another. Too bad really. Don't like seeing anything die if it doesn't have too.

Had this been the summer, I would prolly just let it fly.
